Clear Health Costs - Investigations

Good Ancestor Foundation was gifted a 10% position in pro-consumer insurance price and quality comparison website Honest Policy.

In addition to analyzing insurance industry rates and policies in contested markets where its difficult to get insurance, Honest Policy also built and provided funding to the technology behind Award winning ClearHealthCosts.com run by former New York Times Editor and Healthcare costs expert Jeanne Pinder.

Jeanne's coverage was especially important as the NYT began to cut its investigative journalism and health desks.

Showing that the cost of medical procedures varied by 10x within driving distance, and providing clear and transparent price information to consumers and legislators exposed the insanity of the supposedly market based health industry.

The healthcare industry features according to the FTC's own definitions Monopoly and Monopsony conditions and rules that cause it to function as a worst case combination of collusion and market corruption that achieves neither the hopes of a market oriented system (such as Singapore) oriented or a single payer system (as found in Europe).

Fixing this system remains an existential issue not only for aging Americans but for the US governments fiscal shortfall – primarily caused by higher than peer social security, medicare, and medicaid related health expenses combined with poor health outcomes and aging demographics.
