Ideas Beyond Borders - Ideas in the middle east
Thanks to our generous donors, Good Ancestor is proud to have provided substantial program funding to Ideas Beyond borders work in the middle east after visiting their offices and work at a refugee camp in northern Iraq.
This crucial initiative understands the importance investing in understanding
They serve many important tasks
- Translation of important enlightenment ideas to local languages
- Publication (free) of important books on rationality, science and society
- (Re) Creation of libraries in former ISIS controlled areas
- Created a substantial portion of Wikipedia articles around important topics in culture in which they are not widely appreciated
Project interactions:
- We have discussed with their translators in assisting to train AI models in obscure languages.
- They collaborated on our "Internet Democracy Project", a collaborative and secure environment for groups to ally on common principals and leadership, and to gather opinions using modern LLM driven feedback tools such as from another grantee of ours https://ai.objectives.institute/talk-to-the-city
- During this project we also implemented internet access in a Yazidi refugee camp provided to us by UK charity Jangala
