Good Ancestor provided a grant to Goodly to implement pre-release public editor tools to analyze important political speech in international contexts for the Human Rights Foundation and other groups. The new capabilities of large language models and AI will allow processes like this to scale.

This tool also serves a purpose in public education by showing fallacious arguments. Research shows that citizens are widely able to identify fallacies in statements they disagree with, while being unable to do so regarding statements they agree with, as part of in-group out-group biases. This includes not only arguments but the apprehension of verifiable facts. Public Editor helps make these features of cognition more clear, with 60 different types of document biases and manipulations.
