As part of our internet security program we have made several supporting grants supporting general freedoms, and security for journalists and activists. This is not a major area of our grantmaking, but this area supports necessary tools and services of our ecosystem grantees, and our security volunteers.

Targeted groups and individuals
"Last mile" security grants

- Up to $10k Bounties for the verified of use of Apple's "Lockdown Mode" amongst their constituency or leadership, and upgrading to iPhone 17 phones with Memory Integrity Enforcement to numerous Human Rights Organizations
- Provision of Google Pixel phones installed with GrapheneOS
- Provision of https://iverify.io/products/enterprise-protection mobile licenses
- Grants for other pro-bono security tools and equipment, services, and advice
- Referrals for physical security services

Internet Security advice for persons of interest
Good Ancestor provides pro-bono last mile assistance, security advice, and referrals to volunteers and professionals for security targeted individuals who face nation state actor or commercial spyware threats to get connected with the help they need. VIPs we’ve assisted include our grantees, donors, and ecosystem partners, former heads of state
Guide to Setting up a Graphene OS high security phone
This a guide for journalists, high net worth individuals, targets of industrial espionage, human rights activists, and people interested in mobile privacy. For persons with an iPhone we recommend following the steps in our Internet Security advice for persons of interest post to configure it in a more secure manner.

- Security Research Legal Defense Fund (anticipated)
- We also provided a microgrant to 404 Media for their technology journalism and site maintenance funds to Deflock.me for coverage of surveillance cameras.
